The University of Ultrasonics proudly trains on Olympus OmniScan MX2’s with up to date software and all modern equipment. Other systems can be supported for training but will not be provided by the UofUT. We offer the following phased array ultrasonic training classes with open enrollment throughout the year. Please select the applicable class below for more information regarding course outlines, prerequisites, or available dates.
If you are a company seeking training for multiple individuals, we can also bring these classes to you. Contact us at info@universityofultrasonics.com for a cost proposal and to discuss potential dates.
PA-101 (Introduction to Phased Array Ultrasonics)
This 40 hour course covers the basic theory and equipment operation associated with phased array and is taught using portable phased array systems. This class covers the first half of the 80 hours of phased array training required by SNT-TC-1A and CP-189 and includes overviews relative to all industries.
PA-102 (Advanced Phased Array for Weld Inspection)
This is a 40 hour class devoted to teaching the necessary principles needed to perform manual and encoded line scans of welds using the phased array technique. This class covers the second half of the required 80 hours of phased array classroom training as required by SNT-TC-1A and CP-189.
PA-103 (Advanced Phased Array for Code Compliance and Crack Sizing)
This is a 40 hour training class which is designed to take an in depth look at code quality examinations and evaluation. This class also covers advanced discontinuity sizing including the ever popular “Cave-man Crack Sizing” technique designed by J. Mark Davis.
PA-CAT (Paul Holloway- PAUT for Corrosion Under Pipe Supports)
PA- CAT is a phased array technique for assessing contact point corrosion at pipe supports on carbon steel piping. PA-CAT was developed by Paul Holloway of Holloway NDT and Engineering. University of Ultrasonics has partnered with Paul to deliver PA-CAT training to clients within the United States. Shane Walton with U of UT has developed the training material for the class, in collaboration with Holloway NDT.
PA-098 (Phased Array Data Analysis Training)
This is a 3 day class designed with the engineers, managers, and end users in mind. Attendees can expect to gain sufficient knowledge to understand the basics of phased array imaging and capabilities to assure quality and reliability for phased array projects performed for your company.
